#BingBong: The Viral TikTok Craze

TikTok and social media, in general, thrive on viral trends, as users reel out various skits, challenges, slangs, and hashtags. Unfortunately, many of them quickly fizzle out while others catch the attention of everyone and appear to stay.

If you spend a lot of time on TikTok, seeing people use the term "Bing Bong" must have left you wondering what it means. Well, this is precisely what we're here for. So, keep reading.

The "Bing Bong" sound, which is based on the tone of subway doors opening, has been around since 2019 as part of the SideTalk intro; however, it only recently became viral on social media. The Brooklyn-based rapper Nems was the first to vocalize the sound in a SideTalk episode titled 'Coney Island's Finest" in 2021.

The true power of the catchphrase came when New York Knicks fans accepted it and began using it as a war cry for their team. With numerous fans reciting the "Bing Bong" phrase in various videos, these viral posts succeeded in quickly making it a Knicks slogan.

Since SideTalk's original post of its viral video, they have gone from a few thousand TikTok followers to over 3.5 million in less than a month, experiencing a similar boom on YouTube and Instagram. The meme has also taken on a life of its own, with celebrities like Lil Nas X, Olivia Rodrigo, and Jack Harlow recently making a TikTok using the audio.

So, be on the lookout for more "Bing Bong" snippets on TikTok.
