Dinner Detectives - A Night of Whodunnit!

By Julie Worthington, Reporter

The Dinner Detective Murder Mystery Theater is an interactive business that allows you to unleash your inner Sherlock Holmes. Located in the heart of Tribeca at 22 Warren Street, this is a three-hour fun-filled evening full of suspects and culprits, leading you on the path to the so-called murderer.

All in good fun, participants are asked to go around to interrogate people, search for clues, and make deductions about Whodunnit.

At the end of the evening, the person who guesses who the villain is will be declared the winner.

Customers are served a four-course meal consisting of appetizers, a salad, a chicken, a fish or vegetarian entrée, and dessert. A bar is also available.

Ian Beutler, executive producer at Dinner Detective, said after what the world has been through with Covid-19, these three hours can be seen as an "escape."

"It's interactive fun, with a fun and light-hearted bonding moment for people," Beutler said.

The show is unscripted, but the staff comes into each show on a rotating basis. Though there are no costumes involved, the actors disperse themselves amongst the audience and really ham it up, Beutler said.

Tickets for the show are $99 plus tax. There is a maximum of 60 participants allowed, along with the actors. The minimum age is 18, although a few 15-year-olds have been let in.

"We feel it's a fun adult night out," he said. "It's not appropriate for young adults," he said.

Private parties, corporations that want to do team-building exercises, and people that want to come here on a date - are all welcome here, according to Beutler.

"It's a fun way to do dinner," he added.
